Kitchen timer!

I went to an estate sale yesterday and picked up a few things that I didn't need.  Since every microwave and stove nowadays has a built-in timer, I didn't need another timer!!!!  However, I thought that this cupcake timer was unique since I've never seen another one like it!  There are countless cupcake timers available on ebay and Amazon, but I haven't seen one on a pedestal of sorts!

                             I just think that this timer is so cute...almost good enough to eat!

  

I searched ebay and Amazon and found that almost all of the cupcake timers were selling anywhere from $10.00-$29.99, but none were on a stand/pedestal.  Of course I won't use this timer because I have timers on other kitchen appliances, however, it will be displayed in my kitchen for its whimsical value!

Pink Saturday in muggy AZ

I'm joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday.  I haven't participated in eons but I found some "pinks" that I wanted to share.   My "pinks" for today sort of follow a doll theme so here we go...............

My first pink is of my granddaughter, Lillian, after her dance recital.  She loves pink so she received a dozen pink roses for her Tiny Tots performance.  She had pink tights and a lot of pink material mixed in with the green on her tutu.

 Another doll......    A Madame Alexander with unbuttoned shoes!  I think that her dress is adorable.

This little doll has a darling pinafore over a pink dress.  She has a very pretty face.

These flowers are so pretty and delicate-looking.  I found this today at an early morning yard sale.  Not bad for a $1.00

A slight change or a little before and after~

We had about 30 people here for a 4th of July party and we had loads of fun.  However, before the party, my husband and I had to make some changes to the backyard because of some dismal conditions!  Ratty umbrellas and cushions had to be replaced and some plants had to find new homes.  

                                                                              

The cushions on this set had to go and a new umbrella was needed.

I decided on a blue set because it was on sale!  The red checkered tablecloth added to the red, white and blue colors in the house and on the patio.

This umbrella has seen better days.

Chairs and umbrella are from Big Lots.  I was so surprised to find them as I haven't been to a Big Lots in ages.

                           After washing off the patio, I dressed the table for hungry guests.

I'm happy to say that everyone had tons of fun swimming, eating and drinking their favorite beverages.  Now all I have to do is vacuum and mop the floors again and prepare for more people coming over tonight for the leftovers!

IKEA ALERT!!!!!

This is a great big FYI for anyone who likes to scrapbook and who lives anywhere near an IKEA.  My daughter was visiting from Tucson on Saturday so we decided to do some shopping at IKEA in Tempe, AZ.  I really didn't need anything and she was mainly looking for decorating ideas so we leisurely strolled the aisles.  I saw a packet of scrapbook papers in an odd location so I didn't pick it up.  Just as we approached the elevators on the second floor, I noticed a whole bunch of stuff for .99!!!!!  I walked over to the shelves and spotted the scrapbook packet again.  I picked it up and popped it into the shopping cart completely convinced that it wasn't going to ring up at .99!

Lo and behold, it did.  So if anyone is interested in parts or all of the packet I've photographed for this post, head over to IKEA and grab one.

Meri's Paper Doll Class

This past Saturday I attended my 3rd. event at Meri's house and this class involved working with paper dolls.  You have to understand that Meri is one of the most talented, gracious, selfless, and creative people that I have the pleasure to know.  If you are local to the Phoenix area, I suggest that you attend one of Meri's classes as you will not be disappointed.

I decided to make Meri a paper dress garland as a small token of thanks for opening her home for classes and creative guidance.  I followed a pattern that I used previously for my granddaughter's garland. Below you can see each letter of Meri's name.

New sofa table

I'm a sucker for hand painted furniture!  I needed wanted a sofa table for our family room which is about to undergo a remodel, so I looked on Craig's List hoping to find something that I liked at a reasonable price.  This little gem popped up and I was hooked!  This is the 3rd piece of hand painted furniture that I have and I'm very happy with it.

The original asking price was $125 and then they lowered it to $85.  I managed to buy this darling table for $70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm very pleased with it and I just love the detail and the colors.  Eventually our great room, kitchen and dining room will be painted in combinations of yellow hues   so this table will fit right in.

Coffee Filter Wreath and blisters!

It all started when I saw Angie's wreath on Pinterest or somewhere online!  I started a white coffee filter wreath months and months ago but I wasn't thrilled with the way it looked so I stopped working on it.  When I saw Angie's wreath, I remembered my very unfinished, poor, limp, white coffee filter wreath attempt, and retrieved it from a corner where it was put to rest to die!  I followed Angie's instructions and set out bowls of water and food coloring.  TIP:  for a vibrant blue or purple color, you have to add a lot more food coloring to the water!

My wreath isn't as full as Angie's wreath but it will do for my first attempt.  Total cost:  wreath ring $1.00 at Dollar Tree,  coffee filters $1.00 at Dollar Tree (160 count but I didn't use all of them), butterfly .99 at 99 Cent Store, food coloring free as I have 3 boxes on a shelf, the blisters on my left ring finger and left thumb were also free compliments of my glue gun!
