Happy New Year?????
My daughter emailed a message to me about a huge sale at Dillard's...mistake # 1. She called to remind me about it this morning so I decided to go see what the sale was like...mistake # 2. I drove around the packed parking lot until a kind lady pointed to a space she was about to vacate! No mistake here. I walked into Dillard's near the purse/handbag section...mistake #3. One lady had 17...yes, I counted...purses around her neck, both shoulders and arms and she wasn't about to let go of any of them! Ladies around her weren't too happy and a hubbub started. Since I didn't need/want another purse, I left the scene of what was about to become a battleground. I headed to the jewelry dept...mistake #4. There were so many people there that I could barely see a sales counter so I promptly left. I headed upstairs to the seasonal/Christmas decor section...mistake #5. Now I don't need a thing in the way of Christmas ornaments or decor but I suddenly had 9 items in my hands...mistakes # 6 & 7 because I had to stand in a ridiculously long line to purchase said items. I made friends with all kinds of people who were just as crazy as me! The man in front of me had 6 Waterford Christmas wine glasses in boxes which were worth about $600! He ended up paying around $150 for all of the wine glasses! After I paid for my ornaments/decor, I headed back downstairs to a crowd that had doubled in size...mistake #8. I headed to the men's dept., stood in a very short line and ended up buying two things for John. I tried to briskly walk to the nearest exit but too many people (kids included) were in my way so I had to settle for inching my way through the throngs. I managed to circumvent the purse/handbag section (which by now was out of control) and I made it to the exit finally. I entered the parking lot...mistake #1,000 because I had already lost my mind and I didn't know where the car was! At least I wasn't alone because several people looked like zombies roaming aimlessly trying to find their cars as well. I finally found my car, got in and put my head on the steering wheel and repeated over and over again,..."I survived, I survived, I survived..." I have never seen anything like this. This sale had to be 10x worse than any Black Friday event or the day after Christmas sale. Maybe I'll do it again next year!
